Large-scale Russian Assaults Eliminate Electricity Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced increased strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were wounded while residents in the city's east were plunged into darkness and dealt with interruptions to water systems, according to municipal leaders.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was killed in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, as reported by local officials.

Russian forces has increased attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "real steps" from allies to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the America, European nations and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and implementing penalties," he wrote in a public message.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty projectiles struck the country's power systems, describing such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were working to repair systems.

A wave of strikes damaged electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Several of the people injured in the assaults on the capital have been hospitalized, as confirmed by city authorities.

Area administrators said the urban area came under intense attacks overnight. A seven-year-old child lost their life and multiple civilians were hurt.

The strikes succeed nights of air raids in the territory, sections of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The whole nation is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to detect.

National leaders told journalists that Russia was deliberately attempting to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already disrupting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and government agencies were preparing for more assaults.
