From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of heroes who will split off from the central cast to begin their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the team enter places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Seekers and Planners tables.
Audiences can expect discovering which adventurers will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
